Is it true? (Speaking)

I’m visiting Korea soon and I’m really excited. but Is true that Koreans get offended if you say “안녕하세요” (hello) without actually knowing how to speak Korean? I’m not really good at Korean. but I do know some basic polite words like : hello, sorry, thank you, excuse me…etc. I learned these basic phrases to use in restaurants and shops. However, my friend told me that Koreans don’t like it if you only speak basic Korean, is it true? my intention is just to be respectful to the country I’m visiting. Please let me know what you think.

no it’s not true, they will be happy to see that people are making efforts speaking their language and most of them will tell you that you speak well and that they are impressed ! especially in stores and restaurants. otherwise people in the street don’t care about anyone they’re just living in their own world somehow but this doesn’t mean you won’t meet mean/racist people !! unfortunately there are people like this, but people won’t be offended by you speaking korean don’t worry about that ^^
