Are chickens halal if it is not obvious if it is certified. Unfortunately, due to large amount of chicken being consumed, all chickens are killed by a machine. Is it okay to eat chicken in Korean fast food kitchens like KFC or do the kitchens need to have halal certificate.

You had better ask from knowledgeable person to whom you can rely on and get " sahih" ( reliable) information. I can say in Korea you can never say the chicken halal if you buy from KFC or korean kitchens. Almost all are not muslims how can they kill the animal according to Islamic rules?
