HACCP stands for Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points is a procedure put in place to ensure the food being produce is safe for consumption. This is one of the thing that we check for in Halal certification however it does not check all the box in Halal certification. Especially regarding the source of ingredient eg. Whether the meat souce is slaughtered according to Islamic teaching or not etc which is very important in determining whether the product is Halal or not. Therefore, HACCP is complementary to Halal but cannot stand alone in order to decide whether the food is Halal or not.
